Apply for a YAC Grant

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of the Manistee County Community Foundation is pleased to offer a competitive grant program targeted at meeting the needs of Manistee County youth.  The application deadline is March 15, 2017.  Applications are being accepted online using the link below.

Who can apply: Grant requests must be initiated by 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, faith based organizations, schools or governmental units. 

How much is available: Up to $2,000 is available.  It is anticipated that grant awards will range in size from $250 - $1,000. 

Project Timeline:  Funded projects must be completed by December 31, 2017. 

Grant Priorities:  Grants will support programs and projects that improve lives of Manistee County youth.  Preference will be given to projects that address the following top concerns identified by Manistee County youth in the 2015 YAC Youth Needs Assessment:

  • Youth drug, alcohol and tobacco use
  • Academic stress including that associated with expectations and college/future plans
  • Depression and low self-esteem
  • Bullying
  • Teen pregnancy

 

Application and Award Timeline: 

  • February 27, 2017 – Grant Cycle Announced
  • March 15, 2017 – Grant Application Deadline
  • March 21, 2017 – YAC Review of Applications
  • April 18, 2017 – Finalists Present to YAC
  • May 9, 2017 ­– Notification of Awards
  • December 31, 2017 – Projects completed
  • January 31, 2017 – Final Grant Reports Due
