Apply for a YAC Grant
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of the Manistee County Community Foundation is pleased to offer a competitive grant program targeted at meeting the needs of Manistee County youth.
Who can apply: Eligible applicants include tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, school districts, and units of government, including federally recognized tribes. Support may also be considered for religious institutions. Projects must be located in Manistee County, unless pre-approved by the Community Foundation, and benefit residents of Manistee County.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the Community Foundation with questions about their eligibility.
How to apply: The first step in seeking a grant from the YAC is to complete the Foundations YAC Grant Inquiry Form. Foundation staff will respond by March 13 about the eligibility of the project based on the inquiry submitted. If your project is deemed eligible, you will be asked to participate in a brief Q&A session with the YAC on Wednesday, March 15 between 8:30 and 10am via Google Meet. Please hold this date and time in your calendar when submitting an inquiry. The YAC will then determine those eligible to complete a full grant application.
How much is available: A total of $2,000 is available to be awarded this year.
Project Timeline: Funded projects must be completed by December 31, 2023.
Grant Priorities: Grants will support programs and projects that improve the lives of Manistee County youth. For the 2023 cycle, the YAC is prioritizing projects that involve youth voice in project planning and implementation.

- February 24, 2023 Grant Cycle Announced
- March 10, 2023 Grant Inquiries Due
- March 13, 2023 Applicants are notified of their eligibility
- March 15, 2023 Eligible applicants participate in a Q&A session with YAC (Q&A sessions between 8:30am - 10:00am; specific times TBD)
- March 17, 2023 Eligible applicants are invited to submit a full grant application
- April 7, 2023 - Grant Applications Due
- April 19, 2023 - YAC Review of Applications
- May 5, 2023 - Notification of Awards
- May 17, 2023 - Award Presentations
- December 31, 2023 - Projects completed
- January 31, 2024 Final Grant Reports Due
The YAC is comprised of high school students, representing each of the countys six school districts, who have an interest in learning about philanthropy (donations of time, talent, and treasure for community good), want to learn leadership skills, and want to be a voice for youth in their community. Members are active in researching the needs of Manistee County youth, participating in activities to grow the Foundation's Youth Endowment Fund and recommending grant recipients from the Youth Endowment Fund.
